Alyssatopia came to me years ago. I was wasting time on social media, updating my Facebook page and it asked me to enter where I live. I rarely share personal information online so, I entered Alyssatopia. Facebook did not recognize it as a place, but if I am from anywhere, if I reside anywhere it’s Alyssatopia.
Alyssatopia.com is a very personal effort to reclaim my joy. With all of the turmoil in the world, the sadness, and uncertainty, it is difficult not to lose ourselves in grief. Lately, I have felt the sadness soaking into my bones. It was affecting my parenting and my general quality of life.
I realized that I had forgotten the one thing that has kept me alive through all of the difficulties of my life. The one thing our ancestors all knew. The one thing I somehow have known through instinct since I was a child. To survive this life, we need to ruthlessly seek out our joy. We need to mine our joy from the depths and bring it into our lives. We need to grow it, and allow it to become an incredible unstoppable force in our lives. We must be conscious and we must be diligent. There is nothing more important than focusing on finding and cultivating the things that bring us joy. We will not survive without it.
This blog is about a lot of things, most of all it is about the audacity of staying ALIVE in these trying times that make us feel uncertain about the future and our place in it. This blog is my attempt to stay in the game.
What you’ll find here
I will share what I’m interested in, what’s happening in my life, what I am struggling with and what I am excited about. I will share where I am finding joy through fashion, art and music. How I am living and consciously bringing joy into my everyday.
Alyssatopia is not just about me and my journey.
Alyssatopia is about you and your journey.
